Tasker History

Apt

Tasker is the evolution of an application called Apt written for Palm OS and first released at the end of 2007.

Apt is aimed at per-application customization, with a little bit of event processing too.

The 2nd Android Developer Challenge was the spur to translate that concept to Android and expand upon it, using the lessons from development of Apt.

Development of Tasker started in June 2009, two months before the author finally had an Android device.

Tasker came 3rd in it's category for ADC2 at the end of 2009.

Next, projects and scenes were added, so the UI needed revamping to accomodate them.

After the release of ICS, the Tasker UI looked very outdated, so the UI reverted to looking more native.
